IO Pad Checks

Insight Analyzer checks primary diodes, resistors, secondary diodes, ggNMOS, associated rails, rail : rail diodes, active clamps, geometry and other values. Use with criteria defined, for pass / fail list of violations.
Each violation is shown with complete details, easy for circuit designer to review and diagnose.

Domain Crossing Clamps

For driver – receiver cases that cross between power domains, Insight Analyzer checks for appropriate clamping. A variety of criteria can be applied.
Rather than enforce clamping at all power crossings, Insight Analyzer looks for the crossings that actually are important – Skipping cases of internal analog regulators, small power islands, etc.

  • Crossing type: ground, power, or both
  • R missing or R value
  • Clamp to local rails
  • Clamp type: diode, FETdiode, ggNMOS, etc
  • Clamp model name
  • Clamp geometry

 

ESD Sneak Path: Weak Parasitic Body Diodes

  • The full chip has “good” ESD pads and clamps distributed around. But a risk exists inside the chip.
  • A test pad has exposed a forward body diode that will take an ESD hit as shortest path, bypassing the ESD pad clamps.
  • The core MOSFET is the only device in this path, and will most likely be damaged.

 

Insight Analyzer checks the full chip netlist, evaluating the depth and breadth of each combination path. It targets the short (low R) / narrow (few devices) cases, to be reported as violations.
