In v4.00 software, the GUI may come up with either bad or missing fonts. This is a temporary situation until a permanent fix is worked out.
Cause
Remote PC desktops such as Hummingbird or Go-Global are not able to display anti-aliased vector fonts, so the software has been compiled in a lowest common denominator mode that uses basic bitmapped fonts. In this mode, some platforms issue misleading inventories of available fonts.
Work-Around
If you have visible fonts in the GUI...
- Use the menus to select Setup > Preferences.
- Under the GUI tab, choose Fonts
- Scroll through and select from the list of fonts for a preview of each.
- When you find one that works you can Apply it from that setup window. Your font choice will be saved and restored each time you run.
If fonts are not visible in the GUI...
- create a plain-text file $HOME/.insight/settings/iagui.config
- In that file, create a section called GUI and enter a font name on the line below that
[GUI]
Font = Nimbus Sans L,14,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0 - Alternate font entries for the iagui.config file may also work, they are:
Font = Bitstream Charter,14,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0
Font = Urw Gothic L,14,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0
